This is in Hazel Park (and hey, look, train station in the background!). He's still just about a mile away from his mommy, because I figured he'd want to move too far away, lol!
I didn't build this, but remodeled it quite a bit, both inside and out. I changed out all the windows and doors and stairs, and the color scheme. Complete overhaul inside. The second floor was left unfinished, so I finished it.

The woman in black is another new addition to the Hazel park neighborhood, and she stopped by to introduce herself. You'll meet her in the semi-playables post - her name is Diana, and she has three teenage boys. Yes, I totally did add all those boys just because Lakeside Heights is almost entirely girls, lol!
And oh hey! Did you know when you're already tabbed out to take a picture, you can press "page up" to get the upper story to show??? Five years and I never knew that!!! Just think of all the shots I tabbed out of to switch floors, when all I had to do was page up or page down!

Now for some gameplay notes!
This house had about a $25,000 price tag, and they put down about half of that in a downpayment. They take out their mortgage with the mortgage shrubs, which actually live underneath their foundation. So they ended up taking out a loan for $12,000. And as part of a new financial restructuring plan, the county is now charging "closing fees" on every home loan.

Anyway, the important thing here is that deco paper and book - I might take a stab at recoloring it to be loan paperwork and a homeowner's handbook, lol! But for our purposes today, it's going to be the paperwork that they'll sign to close their home loan, paying 10% of the total loan, or $1,200. I think that's kind of steep compared to real life, but Sim homes are also a lot cheaper than real life ;)

County residents can pay any other fees they might have the same way. I'll still do my taxes by teleportation, but this can be a handy way for residents to pay any other unusually occurring fees they might have - home loans, new business license fees (idea from Heredon Cove)... hmmm, need to think of more fees to charge them, lol!
I have all of my public offices set up in the County Hall building, so I can also set up a similar payment structure for each office and its corresponding fees. An item for sale in the police department for paying law enforcement fines. Court fees can be paid here as well.

And here, a little tiny mini-story, that I didn't want to stick at the end of a gameplay note, about his new shirt.
Ooh, I like Piper's outfit in the last two pictures way more than the pink 'n' ruffles. *yuck* lol!
ReplyDeleteI like their new home. Very nice, and surprisingly spacious too!
Lol - I totally created my Gosberry family just to fill up the schools. I don't think I'll explain the reason for their creation to them any time soon... ;)
I really like Piper's dress. LOL It fits her in a strange way, And I can't wait to see them all moved into their house!
ReplyDeleteThe pink dress was really... um... yeah... Not Piper, anyway! :) I'm very much NOT a pink, ruffly person myself...
ReplyDeleteI had to add some teenage boys to my hood, too! What is it with the girls?? I don't think I've ever heard of anyone complain of too many boys.
Shake, I know, it's surprising how much space you can get out of that second level if you pop in a few extra walls!
ReplyDeleteRiverdale, lol, it looked better on the rack, I swear it! It kind of did suit her, in a weird way, but I went with the second in the end. :)
Blackcat, not cotton-candy pink anyway, lol!
The girls, OMG, I swear it's an epidemic!!! It must be something programmed into the game, because I hear everyone complaining about it. One of these days we should do a hard study on it, compile all our data, and go public with our complaint, lol!
I like how you did the mortgage and closing costs and I love how you remodeled the house. I love little homes, although in Apple Valley a 2x2 lot often has a large mansion on it.
ReplyDeleteThat pic of Hayden and Piper is so adorable! The second outfit definitely fits Piper better than the first.
ReplyDeletePoor Brady - getting shoved into the background all the time. I'm glad he got some play here. It was good to finally see what he does. I like his little office too.
If it makes you feel any better, you didn't know about the page up thing to change floors but I didn't know about the custom price thing. I somehow never thought to try typing a price in that box. How dumb is that?!?!
I think Shana had too many boys at one point but other than that, I only ever hear of boy shortages. I am in desperate need of some boys!
Apple, gotta find reasons to charge them more money, huh? lol! You really do pack a mansion onto a 2x2 lot! It's always very inspiring to see how much you can get into such a small space!
ReplyDeleteCarla, I totally didn't mean to neglect Brady this whole time. It's just not a very exciting job he has, lol!
It's amazing how we can still be learning new things about this game so many years later!
