But that's the thing about colleges, right? They're almost always under construction in some way or another. Or at least my real-life university was. That's what the tuition money is for. Things need to be updated, kept current, and kept inspiring.
If I could say I had one passion-project in this Simming business, it wouldn't be my trains, lol! It would be LCU, my fictional university more than two years in the making. I have a soft spot for writing these twenty-somethings. Maybe because for the past ten years, I've been one. It's a wonderful decade. It's the start of your real life - it's the first time you're really making all your own decisions and owning all of your own consequences. And LCU is my passion-project because it's basically one giant, cohesive storytelling set for these college students. And it's where I send them, my brand new adult characters, to make their lives, fall in love, fall out of love, mess up and try to fix it, and really live their own lives for the very first time.
So I had every intention of showing you this university, in one single snapshot, but I really can't except how I have in the picture above. It isn't finished, and it probably won't ever be. Instead, I can show you bits and pieces at a time. I had a lot of fun making up the main LCU page, going back through all my archived pictures, remembering all the stories, and picking out the highlights of what make this university so much fun to write about.
The buildings are nice, but in the end, they're really just a place for the stories to happen.
Oh, wow, I can see its not going to be just a simple matter of transferring my (downtown) base hood uni into my rebuilt hood downtown - we are missing so much!! My Sims are going to be so jealous if they see this! :)

I'm so with you on the college years. They are always my favourite households to play and write as well. Even when all the bedhopping and the like drives me nuts while trying to make it into something cohesive.
ReplyDeleteI forgot to mention in the LCU post that I really like how your campus map is shaping up. It reminds me of my (real-life) uni. You're making me want to do terrain surgery on my uni too now!
Blackcat, I'm *always* adding to mine. Even now, mine is missing so much too! Have fun with the makeover! Isn't it interesting how in Sim towns, the buildings can just be picked up and plopped down in another location, lol! That'd be handy in real life ;)
