baby dust, part 1

December 2078 - Nathan Lind is 28, Allegra is 25, Bianca is 1.

It's just that time of year again where everyone is getting sick. Both Nathan and Allegra are feeling run down with colds. They take some time out to rest while Bianca takes a nap. Allegra has an interview this week for a job as an architect's apprentice. She thought she might want to take a little work, part time, just to get out of the house. She does want another baby, or two, but Nathan isn't sure yet.

The rest does them both good, and they're feeling better rather quickly.

Bianca is in her first year now, and gets her mother's thick dark hair, and unfortunately inherits her father's undefined cheekbones. We think Aunt Aurora has those same cheekbones, and they don't seem to look so bad on girls, so hopefully Bianca will grow into them.

Not only did Nathan pass on his cheekbones, but his brilliance as well. Bianca is potty trained and walking before her second birthday!

Nathan gets a call from his publisher and his legal thriller, The Flight, is doing decently. Nothing like the accolades his sister's book received, but then, writing is what she does for a living. He's just messing around.

Photobucket
Aunt Aurora sure is getting in some child care practice in these later months of her pregnancy. Nathan called her over to come watch Bianca, since he had to work and Allegra had that interview. Aurora knows she doesn't have a "job" and everything, but she hopes she isn't turning into a professional babysitter!

Allegra gets home just in time to admire the season's first snowfall.

Nathan got a funny call the other day, something about someone knowing his boss, and mysteriously, today, Nathan is promoted to The Law. (must be a new AL thing...) He also brings home Claire Bradshaw from work, and it seems she wants to chat about something.

Claire says, "I just hope you're not getting any funny ideas in your head about running for District Attorney or anything. I mean, I know you got the big promotion and all. And sure, you're brilliant. Everybody says so. But you're just a baby! 28 years old, for crying out loud! These things require experience!"

Nathan doesn't see why he shouldn't. Let the people decide, right? Claire would be running unopposed otherwise, and that just wouldn't be any fun :)

Photobucket
Nathan didn't know his sister cooked! Wow, she's really getting into this stay-at-home mom thing.

Nathan figures maybe he and Allegra need a bedroom makeover, since he does, in fact, think he wants to run for District Attorney, or at least contend for the position. And they're still sleeping on their college furniture!

Nathan's feeling on top of the world this month. So great in fact that he says, "What do you say about number two?" And you know Allegra is all for that!

Since these two breed like rabbits, all they have to do is think about it and they get knocked up.

Photobucket
Allegra decides maybe work isn't such a good idea right now after all, you know, since she'll soon have a newborn and a two year-old at home! Goodness, at least Bianca potty trained early!

And besides, she misses having time to work on her curtains. Number two is due in September :)

Unfortunate cheek issues:

notes: Aurora wasn't technically babysitting, but just a visitor that I had selected the whole day. I don't like leaving my Sims kids alone with those nannies, and would much rather they be taken care of by a relative. Of course, the nanny still had to be there.

Inspired by the real life elections, my Sims are going to have elections, and you guys get to vote!!! I've always wanted to use the Blogger Poll plug-ins. How fun is this going to be??? :)

You'll hear a little bit more from the other candidates running for office in the updates between now and November 2079. Sisters-in-law, Madison Riley and Kendal Bradshaw will both be competing against each other for mayor, lol.

I'm working on an information post with the candidates and the offices they're running for, along with the polls, and voting will end in November of 2079 when the new elected officials will take their posts. (I would have rather held elections on an even-numbered year, because I'm nit-picky like that, but I don't want to wait that long :)

I've never used the polls before though, but if this works out to be fun, I might hold elections every four years. I just put up a test poll on the sidebar, about my LCU couples - so try it out!

  1. I've just gone through and read this entire blog over the past few days and just wanted to let you know how much I've enjoyed it. I love the gameplay notes you include, because I'm always interested in how other Simmers play.

I never thought of using a relative as a babysitter, as opposed to a nanny. I might try that next time I need someone to watch my Sim kids.

  2. whoopie! another great update!

I can't wait for the elections to begin, that should be interesting. Especially since that means updating a blog in real time vs holding some updates in storage.

  3. carla, thanks so much :) You'll still need the nanny there, for game rules, but just lock her in a closet or something ;)

apple, thanks! You've got me stumped, lol! I don't know what you mean by real time?

They should be fun though, I think. I haven't done anything like this before - I'm just making it up as I go ;)

  4. I love elections! I hold real elections in Harper's Cove based on a community score and it is super fun! I really miss simming and I can't wait to get back to it!

As for your elections, once a sim is elected are they the only sim that you will allow to have that Maxis job? Or is it not related to the Maxis jobs at all and just a pretend 'hood office?

  5. Laura

By real time I mean you have to wait for all the bloggers to post thier votes before creating a post about who won. Which means that one can not create a post now (Oct) and schedule it for later (say Nov or Dec).

  6. mandie, I use harderjobs from MATY that is supposed to limit only one Sim per top-level job, but for some reason, I ended up with two The Law (Nathan and Claire). I think Nathan got his promotion by some kind of new AL chance card - all I remember is him getting a call and then he came home with a promotion, I don't think he was actually eligible for it, lol.

I'll write a little more about their jobs when I post the candidates and polls. But I think, for this round of elections at least, it will have to be mostly unrelated, since most of my top-level jobs are not filled by anyone.

apple, okay, I get it :) I don't ever have enough posts to schedule ahead for later though, lol. I don't have that much time :)

  7. Random question: I've been going through your gameplay notes and perhaps I missed the answer, but a question that's been lingering in my mind for a while now is - you're in a round where you're playing Family A, but someone from Family B comes over to hang out, do you make them playable (so you can see their wants)? If so, how do you do that without them becoming a part of the family.

(And if not, then this entire comment is moot, haha.)

  8. vagabondher, there are plenty of ways to make a Sim selectable, but my favorite is the mind-control mirror (linked in the sidebar) because they go back to being non-selectable as soon as you click to another Sim. If I want them selectable for longer, I'll turn on debug mode (boolprop testingcheatsenabled true) and shift/click > make selectable. You can do this with townies as well as visiting playables.

  10. I love the whole idea of elections and your readers voting for them. Curious to see how that worked out. Still getting all excitd about weather pictures. I'm seriously thinking of reinstalling Sims2 (on another computer) and buying all these EP's for a bit of unadulterated fun :)

  11. Moondaisy, the elections are a lot of fun! We're coming up on the next round of elections soon (probably another month in real time) so you'll get to participate in those!
