Ryanne is their youngest, and just started first grade this past fall. Both of the girls have grouchy tendencies, but that's okay - not everybody can be nice.
Summer isn't the best student in the world. But then, neither was her mom. Summer is a lot like her in some ways. And sometimes it's hard to tell who's the mom around here.
Summer may think she's in control, but don't be fooled. Hayden and Rhianna were teenagers themselves not too long ago (and made their fair share of mistakes, obviously) and they still remember what teenagers get up to!
Summer is bored out of her mind out here in the country, buried under a foot of February snow. And God, you know it's bad when even your little sister wont play with you! Maybe some of her old friends could stop over for a party?
So she has a party! Her good friends Keri and Tyler show up, and a couple others, and Tyler brings his brother Beau. She actually has a little crush on Tyler. Shhh, don't tell anybody. She's into him. Really into him. Wanna know how we know?...
Awww, Tyler, I think she's your kind of girl!
Meanwhile, Beau seems to have long since forgotten about April in favor of a brunette named Yvette.
The party heads outside into the snow. Tyler and Summer play catch, football, kicky bag, snowball fight, pillow fight all night. And noogied some more, of course, all skirting around what they both really wanted to do.
And though Tyler vows his heart will always belong to Stephanie, until he gets a little taller and grows a little more chin hair and she realizes that she's desperately in love with him too (he fantasizes anyway...), he has to admit that Summer's gotten pretty cute since she moved away.
I guess he is feeling a little more confident lately, and he goes for it.
But you know with these kids, a kiss doesn't mean they'll start being nice to each other.
Rhianna spends her days running their family's toy store, Summer's Place, on Main Street in Bluewater Township. Summer doesn't really appreciate the name now that she's thirteen - the kids at school tease her about it. Hayden's parents lent (assuming it wouldn't be paid back) them the money to buy it. The arrangement was that Hayden give up his professional game-playing ambitions and settle down with the real job his father got him on the police force. Fair enough trade. Who needs dreams anyway?
Hayden's parents have dished out a lot of help to this budding little family in their time, especially when Summer was a baby and Hayden was finishing up high school. Even so, they still struggle to make ends meet sometimes. Hayden was thinking of doing custom crafted toys for a while, but had to sell his toy-crafting bench to pay the mortgage one month.
But their shop does bring in a little extra money, selling the same catalog crap people can buy anywhere, but at slightly inflated prices. Nothing like a game of kicky bag with dad while mom runs the shop.
And Rhianna has promised to take Summer shopping for a new outfit for helping out in the shop (she did stock shelves for a minute). They make the drive out to Jolie, Jolie, and she picks out something cute, and Tyler's mom hooks her up with a makeover. "Not too much makeup," Rhianna says, "And no, you certainly cannot pierce your nose!"
So Summer is just laying back, daydreaming a little, and Tyler calls to ask her out. "You're too young to date," Rhianna says. "But you can invite him over if you want." So she does.
Lucky for Summer that their moms are actually good friends, because why else would Aurora make the 20 minute drive, since Tyler is only fourteen and too young to drive himself, and on these back-country roads with snow on the ground... (somehow this is okay for Sims)
He meets her dad!
Dad likes him!
They hang out, get down to their usual shenanigans (no need to post yet another noogie picture, you know it happened!)
And what is this??? He's being nice to her???
"I like your new hat," he says. And boom! There are hearts flying all over! Might there be hope for this boy after all???

(author's note: Just let me say that these two make me nervous! Besides the fact that they're so young still, and that Tyler is forever-and-always-devoted to Stephanie Nova, Tyler aspires to have 20 first dates... which doesn't seem like something Summer might be too happy about. But besides that, they actually have a 123 together - a decent three-bolt - so who knows?...)
I really like this family! Summer's new makeover makes her look very pretty and mature. I hope that her and Tyler work out together, but like you...I doubt it! Great update!
ReplyDeleteHa! The title for this post was great. ;) At least he found someone who understands his showing of love via noogie! She really does look quite mature now.
ReplyDeleteDid you actually play through the accidental teen pregnancy? I use InTeen, but I make sure teen pregnancies (aside from the alien abduction, can't really stop that one) don't happen, but I have personal reasons for that. I also can't stand how weird it makes the ages... like child and parents both young looking adults with children! Crazy. But you use modified ages, too, don't you?
I also like how I could recognize where they are living... not the ritzy area, not the city, Bluewater! Just from the pictures and the hood overview you did.
Hi Mandie and Mao:
ReplyDeleteShe does look a lot older, doesn't she? I usually try to hold off on a makeover until they're closer to fifteen, but she's a popularity Sim, and way too trendy for that pink track suit, lol :)
When Rhianna got knocked up with Summer, it was an oops draw on the cards of fate. I do follow through, since if they think they're mature enough to be doing it (most of my teens wait until about 17-19 though, similar to real life stats), then they're mature enough for the consequences. I aged her up to YA at that point to carry out the pregnancy (remember I have base hood uni mods, so my YAs can live anywhere), and she spent three years as a YA (15-18), and then aged to adult at 18.
My ages are modified. Their teen phase lasts 8 days, ages 11-18 (8 sim-years), YA is the equivalent of 4 sim-years. Adult is 42 days if they don't go to college, 38 days if they do, and lasts from ages 22 (18 if no college) to 60.
If you take a look at Hayden's parents, who are 54 and 55 I think, you'll notice they're both in the adult life stage as well, but I make them look older with wrinkles, graying hair, and less youthful clothing.
Yes, I definitely HAD to have my ages modified. I was so sick of couples reaching elderhood before their kids even went off to college, and never getting to know their grandchildren for very long. I'm very happy with my 1 day = 1 year set up :) Summer's great-grandparents were even around for a little while when she was a kid, and that was cool.
Anyway, sorry, I'm writing a novel here ;)
Not at all, thanks for the explanation! I love knowing how people play, especially when it is as intricate as this. I had no idea they were adults, LOL! You had me fooled, but that's the way to do it, age them gradually. I'm just too lazy. Things get too complicated and I lose interest, I leave that stuff to my stories, haha.
ReplyDeleteBut I was just curious because your hood is massive with so many sims, so I was wondering how you handled ages/etc. Age modifiers scare me, so I just do it myself. I can't stand teenager phase, wayy too long. About 7-8 days and then they go to Uni or age to adult.
Ha! Summer and Tyler turning noogies in romance. Loved it!
ReplyDeleteIt's all so mundane and realistic. (My eyes are still oggling the weather... brilliant that is!)
Moondaisy, Seasons was one of the very best EPs for TS2! In fact, I don't think I could even play TS3 until they come out with something similar!
