in college again

July 2079 - Brady Lind is 65, Meadow is 64.

Meadow and Brady Lind met in college, 35 years ago at Sim State University, long before Lake City University was ever founded. But they're moving back to college again this month, going back to school in their elder years. With Meadow's new appointment to President of the Lake County Board of Education, they'll have to live on campus.

Meadow retires from her position as Lakeside Heights High School Principal, but her retirement is hardly going to be spent without work. Her new position as School Board President is going to be more work than ever!

Photobucket
Meadow meets with the former school board president, Holly Miller, and they discuss the handing over of LCU duties.

They also discuss what is yummier, ice cream or Patrick Nova? They don't come to a decision on that, but there is one Nova they do agree on...

Oh, my, Jeremy hasn't changed a bit, Meadow thinks. Jeremy Nova is Professor of Music and Arts at Nova Hall. And suddenly, Meadow begins to wonder if it will be weird that they used to be engaged, and now she's going to be his boss? It can't be any weirder than when Holly was his boss...

Professor of Science and Information Technologies at Collins Hall is April Harris, replacing Tosha Harris who is retiring this year.

April was recommended very highly by Tosha, but then she would be, you know, being her daughter-in-law and everything. She shows up to her interview in jeans and a t-shirt. But regardless, she is, in fact, smart as a whip, and Meadow gives her the job.

And "smart as a whip?" Who ever decided that whips were smart? Maybe LCU needs a writing and literature department? There, Meadow just thought of her first task as the new school board president! How convenient that her own daughter is an accomplished writer :)

Professor of Business is Aurora Miguel, at LCU's newest addition, Riley Hall School of Business. Meadow actually offered the position to Bryson Riley, you know, since he commissioned the building and all, but he said he already had enough on his plate.

Professor of Athletics at LCU Field is Talin Collins. Talin is a retired sports star, and even gives Meadow a little personal training session. Since seeing Jeremy again, Meadow's had the sudden desire to get fit. Maybe she's remembering how he called her fat in college?

Photobucket
Showing pretty young co-eds how to use the weight machines... yeah, his job isn't very hard.

Photobucket
Looking pretty buff, there, Grandma Meadow! Take that, Jeremy Nova, who's fat now!?!

Photobucket
While Meadow is settling into her new job, Brady gets their condo all packed up. Brady also won his race for CFO of the Lake County Treasury, but his new office in City Hall isn't quite ready yet.

He and Meadow sit out in her garden one last time. She wonders if she'll have time for gardening now with her new job? If not, Brady suggests she might just have a sculpture garden. You know, less maintenance and all. Quick thinking, Brady!

Photobucket
Meadow is glad that the University Estate does have a bit of garden space out back.

(That is actually Fifi there, spinning around her tail, though she doesn't look like much of a dog like that, lol.)

Photobucket
And maybe it's weird, but the house is so big that they decide to devote an entire room to Fifi.

Photobucket
So they're all moved in then, and they almost forgot how annoying cheerleaders used to be. They're going to have to get used to that all over again.

  1. I love the tour of the university and hearing about Meadow's new job duties! Also the fact that she gets to live on campus, wow! So do the cheerleaders and streaker show up in every home in Lake City?

  2. Thanks! I use the base-hood university mods (there's a link on the sidebar), and it's just a little painting you put on each lot you want to behave like a university lot. So I just have one corner of Lake City devoted to the campus area. The painting can be used on residential or community lots. The rest of Lake City behaves like a normal downtown.

  3. I always thought "smart as a whip" came from the old days when people used to punish their kids by whipping them, and they used the word "smart" to mean OUCH! And somehow it got confused in modern times as "smart" as in "intelligent". I think I heard that in one of my college classes.

Anyhoo, great update! I love how the Linds are moving back to college. And I really hope Meadow likes her job, I voted for her and her husband ya know!

  6. Thanks! :) It's functional, actually, why they live on campus. Meadow owns all of the campus buildings as businesses, and since they're within view, I can just click on them and she can walk there ;) Much easier than having to go through all the phone menus.
