(Oh, bah! I promise I'll stop bitching about Photobucket soon. Just indulge me this one last time.)
I was hoping maybe they wouldn't compress EVERYTHING. Because if they hadn't, I was just planning to relink enough to get me under bandwidth again, and leaving the archives as they are. It would have saved me a lot of work. But they did compress everything...
So not only do the archived pictures look like crap, but I'm sure they'll continue to max out on bandwidth and go down before the 13th of the month until I can get more of the pictures moved over.
So the relinking process is taking forever, but considering the sentimental attachment to some of my archive pictures, I just can't bear to leave them like that. The relinking will continue and will be finished eventually. I'm currently back through about the middle of March 2009.
LOL, only a year's worth of pictures left to go!
Oh man, Laura! THAT SUCKS! They buggered BS, too, but I'll be danged if I'm going to fix like, nearly 300 entries worth of pictures... NO WAY, LOL.

Oh, that sucks, Laura! So are you reuploading the original photos (as in uncompressed) to your new host then or do you not have those any more?
ReplyDeleteI don't know if they bothered compressing mine because I use the in-game camera and those pics are generally under 100KB anyway. :\ I'm undertaking the same task as you right now, as you know, and I'm not noticing a different but I can be spectacularly unobservant at times!

ReplyDeleteCarla, yes, thankfully I do have almost all of the pictures backed up on my drive. There are a few from the very beginning, before my first full round, that I don't have. But those were so terribly done, I probably wouldn't mind just doing them over again at some point. I was using the in-game camera back then too, so I must have the images in the neighborhood folder still somewhere.
Mine are mostly under 100KB too, but that's because I already save them for web. Maybe that's why they turn out looking worse when they're compressed even further.
Oh man, that stinks. :( That is a lot of tedious work relinking everything.

That sucks! Photobucket sucks! Maybe I shouldn't say this since ALL my pics are still hosted there...
ReplyDeleteI'm becoming a bit paranoid with photobucket and although I've said I'll never pay for webspace I think I'll find a proper host for my pics.

ReplyDeleteCissie, you should be paranoid of Photobucket (not to scare you or anything, lol!) They keep changing their rules, and for bloggers like us with thousands of pictures hosted and linked, they really just can't be trusted.
