something she can do

January 2083 - Bryson and Madison Riley are 60 (Mariah and Micah Buchanan are 24, Quinn is five months. Justin Kim is 23, Keri is 22.) Last update, January 2081.

"Ally Schultz," Madison says. "She's running against me this fall. Can you believe it?" Madison can actually believe it. That Ally was always a go-getter, whether it comes to men, or her career. "And if I recall correctly, wasn't she the one who stole my niece's boyfriend?"

"I wouldn't know," Cabe says.

"Anyway, not even thirty-five and she thinks she's going to run for Governor. Apparently she even lost that louse of a boyfriend to help her public image."

Cabe isn't normally the type for mindless gossip, but unfortunately Madison had to unload this bomb on somebody. But Cabe was scheduled to meet her for a military briefing, and they do have serious matters to attend to.

one day, just because they felt like it...

January 2083 (mini-update) - Jodie Larson is 27, Piper Wilson is 28, Hayden Phoenix is 33.

They all left her, as people tend to do. Jodie didn't know if it would be for good, because most of the time it is, but not Piper. This funny little sprite of a woman came back to visit.

Jodie doesn't hug people but Piper does. So Jodie returned the hug, and to her surprise, it actually felt so good she nearly picked little Piper right up off the ground.

stories about you

December 2082 - Joel Harris is 41, Aurora is 37, Zach is 4. (Valerie Shaw is 41, Nathan Lind is 32, Ally is 29.) Last update, February 2081.

"No funny business," he tells her. "I want pictures."

She complies, their four year-old is just feet away on the ice rink after all. Though she feels she could rip his clothes off and have him right there in that photo booth, even as cold as it is outside. She'd be efficient, they don't need to remove everything.

It's just the way she gets this time of the month - after years of trying to have their first child, Aurora Harris is well-versed in the art of baby-making. She's an expert on it, and she knows she's ovulating. She doesn't need the thermometer or calendars anymore, she can feel it happening, the ripeness. The hormones, urges, and lust that drive this new life to be born.

But what she doesn't know is if this is just biology at work, or does she actually want another baby?

one day, like a light bulb...

December 2082 (mini-update) - Cameron Gibson is 31, Bella Bradshaw is 26.

*optional soundtrack: "It's You," by Pictures and Sound *

One day, like a light bulb, something finally flashes to clarity inside him. Cameron understands women?

No, probably not, but he does figure out a few things. Starting with this little pearl of wisdom he offers to a young friend. "No, kiddo," he says. "The girls don't like it when you pull their hair, I tried that once."

Lakeside Heights, aliens, and the year 2082

Okay, so since there were at least a couple people wondering about this, I figured I'd do a little Q&A/ cheat sheet about the Deppiesse family's alien heritage. I know if there are two people wondering out loud, there must be more not asking questions, and I don't want anyone to be confused since aliens have become a sort of integral part of the storyline. Though, Orion's family was one of the first families I ever wrote about on this blog, so I guess aliens have always been a part of the storyline...

the truth about happily ever after, part 2

November 2082 (part 2 of 2) - Berjes and Hailey Monif are 37, Hazel is 13. (Mariah Buchanan is 24, Dakota Deppiesse is 12, Jodie Larson is 27.) Last update, December 2081. (part one here.)

Her mother leaves early in the morning for work, and Berjes knows this, which is why he comes to visit Hazel before school. She runs down the stairs to greet him, like she used to when she was little, and like she's been doing ever since he and Hailey started arguing. She was always her mother's little baby, but in recent months it's painfully obvious that she misses her daddy.

She says, "Have you still not figured that thing out yet?"

"Nope, not yet," he says.

we shall request that photobucket go screw itself

"Hey, look at us," Liza says.

Fiona says, "What?"

"Our faces aren't blurry anymore!"

Fiona breathes a sigh of relief. "Thank God," she says. "My complexion looked terrible! What if a boy had seen me like that?"

note to my biggest fan

*** I've been MEGA-stressed out over this photobucket bullshit - ("It's just a Sims blog," you might say, "Don't worry your pretty head about it!" But no, it isn't exactly just a Sims blog, it's MY Sims blog, and my STORY, and I enjoy writing it quite a bit.) So anyway, I thought I'd unwind a little after receiving this gem in my e-mail this morning. I haven't forgotten about the second part of a story I have to finish still. I'll be getting to that very soon. I just have to hammer out the details of this picture hosting stuff... so anyway, a note to my biggest fan ;) ***

Dear Anonymous,

Thank you for your concern, and I can assure you my life is just fine. No need to worry.

the truth about happily ever after, part 1

November 2082 (part 1 of 2) - Berjes and Hailey Monif are 37, Hazel is 13. (Fiona McCullough is 15, Robbie is 12, Liza Hathe is 13, Angelo Shaw is 12, Isaiah Gavigan is 14.) Last update, December 2081.

She wants to fall in love again, the way she thought she and her husband did once, so long ago she can hardly even remember what kind of girl she was. She wants to fall in love like she writes about in her stories. She knows it's out there, and maybe it's not always perfect, but there are couples out there who are pained to be apart. There are couples who live and breathe to make each other happy.

She isn't too old yet. She isn't even forty. She still has her figure, only slight wrinkles at her eyes, she covers her few gray hairs quite well. She still has some spirit left in her, deep down, maybe tucked safely between her toes. She still has a small bit of hope.

one day, when he is finally brave enough...

November 2082 (mini-update) - Hayden Phoenix is 33, Piper Wilson is 28.

One day, when he is finally brave enough, Hayden sits down to talk to his wife. Almost three years have passed, and he's never done this alone. The cemetery is empty, but still he looks around to be sure he's really alone. He is. There is nothing but the wind blowing through treetops, cold and subtle as whispers.

"I feel like an idiot," he starts, easing himself to the ground at her grave. "My therapist thought this might be a good idea."

LCU, just one key (part 2)

LCU, fall semester, 2082 (part 2 of 2). *optional soundtrack, "Get Together, by the Youngbloods*

*** I had a blast playing these three, so this is MEGA-LONG! I couldn't find a logical place to break it though, and it's mostly picture/dialogue-heavy, so it shouldn't feel too bad ;) ***

It's a lovely night in October, the air is crisp, but not very cold yet. The soccer field smells like cut grass and young men sweating. They're watching Tyler's soccer practice, or not exactly watching, but discussing the wonders of life. Which brings April Hutchins to a very important question.

She turns to her best friend, Beau, and says, "So I'm not saying I'm going to try or anything, but I just want to know, would you hate me forever if I hooked up with Summer?"

LCU, start a revolution (part 1)

LCU, fall semester, 2082 (part 1 of 2). Last semester, spring 2082. *optional soundtrack, "Volunteers," by Jefferson Airplane.*

Keri Riley-Kim is different from her big sister Mariah in many ways, most notably maybe in that Keri always knows exactly what she wants. She knows what she wants, when she wants it, how she wants it, and even who's going to give it to her. Some people might say this makes her a bitch, but Keri just thinks she's a proud, sure woman. There's nothing wrong with being sure. Keri has been raised to get whatever she wants, and she usually does, one way or another.

But there's one thing Keri knows she doesn't want, and that is to work retail! So when Justin suggests it as a possibility for her senior year internship, she says, "Do you see me putting up with all that 'customer is always right' bullshit?"

2082, postcards from the edge

*** updates on your favorite Lakeside Heights outcasts ***

This is something I've been meaning to do, though I probably won't do it very often. I do still play some of these move-aways and ex-girlfriend/boyfriends, so I'd like to update you all on what they've been up to, especially the ones you wouldn't hear about through any of my playable Sims. I figure if I've become attached enough to want to check up on them, then maybe some of you might be attached enough to care what they've been doing ;)

*sigh* If only I had time to tell all of their stories...
