For my next update, I needed like two pictures at a linen store. So I added a little linen store to my mall. And I
seriously only needed two pictures for the update, but I think I'll end up using three just to amuse myself. Since it took me a good couple hours to put together and I'll probably never need to use it again, I thought I'd show off a couple more here. It's supposed to be a Pottery Barn kind of thing ;)
Pillows!
Pottery and linens! (Yes, I'm aware those are towels and fabric bolts rather than bedding sets, but we're gonna pretend here!)
View out into the mall courtyard.
Here's an overview of the Lakeside Shopping Center. I'm not sure if I've ever shown this before. It's really too big to use very often. Clockwise from the top-left: bank, clothing store, women's restroom, pet store, bar and restaurant, linen store, men's restrooms, currently empty store with a fridge in it (lol!), and arcade.
There's a second floor above this which has the exact same layout of stores, but they're all empty right now.
And this is just an ordinary unowned community lot. I think it'd be so awesome though to rent out retail space in a mall, the way Sims can rent out apartments. Wouldn't that be so cool? Too bad it's not gonna happen, lol!
Man, you and Dani (Crystal Creek) are making me want to build a damn mall now! I really love the linen store. The little candles in front of the register are perfect. It looks awesome and really does look a lot like a linen store near me, actually. Except we call them manchester stores here.
ReplyDeleteAnd yes, I really wish a Sim could own/rent just a little bit of a lot! You'd think they could have extended the apartment capability to businesses somehow. That would have been awesome.
That is a seriously cool linen store (manchester store).
ReplyDeleteAnd I agree - you should be able to do the apartment thing with businesses too. It makes sense to me.
Very nice! Maybe you'll end up using it a lot? It would be a great place for brides who are filling out registries. :)
ReplyDeletecompletely and totally perfect! been there and wanted stuff and couldn't afford it but still hung around and got depressed because it was so pretty!!
ReplyDeleteOooh, now I want a shopping center in SimsVille/Simmeria too!!! *adding it to my very long to-do list* It looks great! I love the lay-out with the open area in the middle!
ReplyDeleteI have to say this; I almost always read yu stories and just love but, but I hardly ever get around to comment on them, and I SO sorry for that! I just have to say you're an amazing writer, and I love all of your stories and how you set them up!!
That shopping centre looks great. I love all your buildings and everything in that particular shop is so pretty. I'm still using the mall-thing that came with OFB :/
ReplyDeleteThanks everyone!
ReplyDeleteCarla, go on and build a mall, you know you want to! ;) Yes, they really missed out on something there with not doing rental space for AL.
Kiri, thanks! Oh hey, cool, I've never heard of a manchester store before today! :)
Rachel, I might just have to make up some uses for it, lol! But yes, bridal registries is a good idea! :)
Beth, yes, me too, for sure! And then back the hell out of there and truck it over to Target to get stuff that's almost as cute, for cheaper, that'll probably fall apart in less than a year, lol! ;)
Tanja, thank you! I'm glad you're enjoying them! :)
Zoe, thanks! Oh hey, I didn't know OFB came with a mall! I'll have to pay a little more attention next time, lol!
Love this! I am trying to figure out what I want in my hood at the moment and every time I come here I get new inspiration.
ReplyDeleteRad, glad to be of use, lol! We all kind of feed off of each other, don't we? That's the best part about sharing our ideas! :)
