Hopefully I'll be able to work on the new year's post some time today.
Summer 2080, Liza Hathe and Robbie McCullough, goofing around at "the field" in Bluewater Township.
Summer 2080, Dallas Deppiesse, in his bedroom, not too grown up for his ants and spaceship wallpaper... maybe almost too grown up though, lol!
Fall 2080, Mariah Riley and Micah Buchanan, dancing at Lucky's Card Bar in Lake City.
*Giggles* Aw, Dallas! He's such an adorable geeky boy ^-^ and the picture of Mariah and Micah is so cute! The sort of picture you'd hang on the wall :)
ReplyDeleteCute pics! I'm glad to see Lakeside Heights is back in business.
ReplyDeleteI have a general Sim blogging question for you, Laura (and any other blog authors who may be reading). I'm curious as to how far ahead of your posts are you playing. It's currently December 2080, but are you perhaps already playing May 2081? If your posting is behind your playing, do you use this advantage of knowing what's going to happen to set up storylines in your current post?
My posting is quite a bit behind my playing, but I find being ahead helps me with storylines.

Valneanne, don't you just want to squeeze Dallas? LOL :)
ReplyDeleteTemesha, that's a really good question! I've always wondered that about other bloggers too.
Me personally, I don't have the time to play ahead. I've always wanted to have a few saved up, but I've never been able to. So, if I get a chance to play today, it will be the new year's post I'll work on.
As far as storylines go, I try to only do short-term planning. I also have my random events to work into the storylines too, so I know when those will happen. I do kind of work out a very loose storyline for the round, I guess (which you can see from the calendar on the round page), but only because I know my characters well enough to know the general direction they're going in.
Anything beyond that is unscripted and right in the moment. I can't really spend any more energy on it than that, since that kind of detail and planning is what I'm *supposed* to be putting into my real novel, lol! I do have to remind myself to keep this blog at the hobby-level sometimes.
That's funny. I was wondering the same thing as Snarky. It's interesting to hear how other players blog. What about you Snarky?
ReplyDeleteIn my blog, I usually have one play session and then I get so many story ideas, I end up having a little too much to write about. Right now I have a file with about 10 extra entries.
Since I try to post slowly, I have a lot of time to spend on those other entries. I edit, and cut, and move stuff around. Sometimes I end up making up completely new entries and then I have to fire up the game to get accompanying screen shots which unfortunately leads to other story ideas.
Those entries should probably be better than they are with the extra time I can spend on them. XD
But I really enjoy unscripted and right in the moment type of entries. There's an energy about these entries.
I love Dallas. He's so cute with his ants! :)
ReplyDeleteI used to have several entries saved up and be several houses ahead of my posting, but due to other commitments and family stuff that came up, I'm now posting as I'm playing. The update I just posted this morning on my blog was finished playing last night. So I haven't even started on the next house in my schedule, which is supposed to be posted on Wednesday but likely won't be. I do like having a bunch of entries saved up so that I can stick to a certain posting schedule, but then again, I also like posting as I'm playing so that everything is fresh in my mind and so that even I don't know what's going to happen in my Sims' lives, just like the readers. :)
Wow-everyone has such a different style when it comes to posting. Since I have Apple Valley AND Pahala Shore AND Living Etc to write for (not to mention my actual job, family and real life), I tend to have entries and stories saved up so I will always be on schedule, which reminds me, I need to write a few Pahala Shore episodes.
ReplyDeleteAwww, I love the Mariah and Micah picture! Very sweet - I can never get enough of that classic dance.
ReplyDeleteVery interesting to read about everyone else's blogging styles!
I never play very far ahead. I usually play in the late afternoon or at night and then I blog the next morning (if I'm not working) or the next afternoon (if I am).
Even though I take notes, I'd lose my train of thought and would find it difficult to pick it up again. If I know I'm not going to be able to blog/Sim for a while (like the latter half of last week), I will sometimes write a few entries at once and stagger them so they're released while I'm away. My main reason for not playing too far ahead though is really just that I'd find it hard to stay on top of my entries that way. I'd always be behind, because I'm quite a fast player.
I don't have a set story in mine, I pretty much let my sims lead me. If they roll a certain want or preform a certain action I go with that lead. As for updating, I normally play a few houses, see if anything developes during game play. Out of all my families I normally only update about half on my blog site. All major events are reported on the main site as the gazette, births, death, marriages, etc. If nothing really happens then I have nothing to blog about, lol.
ReplyDeleteLunar Fox,
ReplyDeleteRight now I'm playing pretty far ahead of my blogging. I'm almost done playing the Strangetown houses and I haven't written the first Strangetown post. I wanted to stay a couple of households ahead so that I would have posts in reserve for when things get too busy, but I didn't intend to get this far ahead. I've promised myself that I won't start playing Veronaville until half of Strangetown is blogged.
As far as storylines, I've been pretty lucky in that the Sims who happen to turn up at my current Sim's house are the ones who are about to be blogged, so I get an idea of their storyline before I get to their houses. I thought it was funny when I was playing the Burbs that suddenly the Strangetown sims started showing up, and you'll see more of this in the Strangetown posts. So (I hope) it's made the posts cohesive.
I have a balance of me dictating the storyline versus following my Sims wants. Adding ACR to the mix has shaken things up because some unexpected relationships have formed (along with some new residents!)
