LCU, never quite what we expect

LCU, fall semester, 2075(a really long LCU semester this time. I really tried to keep it short, but there was just too much going on. I don't know how some people get bored playing Uni, because all these college kids sure do keep me on my toes, lol!)

Alon and Charlotte have moved into student housing block B, sharing their house with two other roommates. Amelia mentioned something to Charlotte about keeping tabs on Alon for her, not that they're exactly an item again just yet, but she still wants to know what he's up to.

Their new roommates have only known each other a couple days and already they're starting up a little something, and Charlotte is starting to feel like a bit of a school marm. She's still talking to Mark, who she met at the end of last semester, and she's just waiting for him to ask her out. Isn't the guy supposed to do the asking, she wonders?

Alon hears that Bella is in town again. He hasn't run into her yet, and he's pretty sure he doesn't want to. Amelia just started seeing him again and he doesn't want to screw things up. He declares his major in drama, and even has a couple classes with Amelia. He's trying to get onto the LCU basketball team.

So eventually Charlotte goes ahead and asks Mark out. She's just being old fashioned about it, right? And she's not exactly shy or anything. So they go on a date down at the campus pub. She thought they were having a great time.

She waits for the right moment and asks him home with her. He totally shoots her down! How humiliating! I guess he's not that kind of guy?

So what else is there to do but drown her miseries in a drink? Her friend Aaron is the bartender, and he hooks her up with drinks for the night. She spends the rest of the night getting hammered and taking to some guy in a llama costume. Hey, Aaron isn't bad looking. Maybe he would go home with her? Or surely at the very least the llama guy? She asks the llama guy, am I smelly? Is it the hat? Is it my nose? Is it this weird kink in my eyebrow?

She tries to see if Aaron is interested, but he doesn't really know what she's talking about, and tells her to call him when she's a little more sober. Maybe she'll even remember he said that tomorrow. He calls her a cab home.

Meanwhile, back at the ranch... at least somebody in this house is getting some action.(author's note: Poor Charlotte! I swear I'm not even trying to give her a hard time. I really expected Mark to go home with her, lol, and he totally didn't want to!)

Amelia and Alon have been spending a lot of time together lately. Man, it's hard getting over your first love. As much as she wants to hold a grudge, that chemistry is just too hard to beat! She wonders if maybe he's groveled long enough?

Allegra is really glad she splurged and moved into Amelia's dorm for her last year. Academy Hall is the perfect place for a serious student like Allegra. Her room is spacious enough for all of her artwork and supplies, and has its own bathroom. She likes winning games of chess against her roommates in the lavish study room. And Amelia's killer parties keep them both from being lonely.

It's getting chilly lately, but they still manage to enjoy the heated pool. Pool party in October? Sure, why not?!!

Well, she wouldn't be Bella Bradshaw if she didn't have them lining up for her already. What is it about this girl? She told Jeremiah that she wanted to keep things casual, but I guess he doesn't listen too well. Bella is living in the Main Residence Hall, a.k.a. "Frosh Dorm," and making quite the impact already. She doesn't mess around with general classes and declares her major in drama. She's going to be a major film star, an Icon, she's sure of it!

(what it is about Bella? She's actually a fortune sim, but secondary romance has her looking pretty darn hot to just about every guy in the neighborhood)

Heather was shocked to have flaked out on her exam last semester, but manages to maintain a 3.8 GPA, which still qualifies her for the graduate placement program. Adam wants to be a teacher and works on his public speaking.

One night he has this hairbrained idea to visit a graveyard because he has an itching desire to see a ghost. There were no ghosts there, but only a bunch of weird people.

And speaking of weird people, I guess he and Heather qualify because they discover they have a freaky fetish for making out in graveyard crypts.

(gameplay note: The LCU Graduate Placement Program - Since Sims can so easily make a crap-load of money, I've gone and made it really really hard to find a decent job in Lakeside Heights. I've downloaded lots of low-playing blue-collar type custom careers, and on top of that, I use a mod that makes the well paying jobs require a college education. So even a if a Sim does graduate college, they still have to search for a LONG time to find a decent job. The LCU Graduate Placement Program (aka multi-painting) assures that hard-working LCU graduates with a GPA of 3.8 or higher will be placed in their chosen fields immediately, graduates with a GPA of 3.5-3.7 will be placed by 5 years of their graduation, and 3.0-3.4 by 10 years. Sorry, everyone else is on their own!)

Lara is feeling a little bit nervous that she's a senior and still has no idea what she wants to do after college. She would be happy just to putter around the garden and watch birds all day, but that's not going to get any bills paid.

Well, they say the way to a man's heart is through his stomach, and that must have been some pretty good spaghetti, because Patrick finally pops the question. It's what Lara always wanted, but not quite how she envisioned it, at her cheap dining room table over a half-assed plate of spaghetti.

Yeah, okay, she says. Hmmm, it's not exactly the reaction he was hoping for. I guess she was hoping he might have come up with something a little more romantic? Well, however it happened, Lara and Patrick are engaged!

Jeremiah booked an appointment with Dr. Monif, and after spending a good chunk of his college money, he is looking a bit more attractive these days. It appears good fashion sense cannot be bought though. He enlists in The Military's four year work/tuition program, since he wants to be a General some day anyway.

Jason Larson is Bella's favorite conquest of the moment. He works for her uncle at the Riley Estates Company headquarters, and she's actually had her eye on him for a couple years now. He's quite a bit older than she is. He has a strange nose and strong chin, but we all know Bella has weird taste in men. When she flirts with him, he's thinking about money, which her family has plenty of. That can't be a good sign.
(Jason is made over too - sorry, I had to at least make him human-looking! I tried to keep him in character by giving him a bit of a pointy nose and chin.)

Bella and Jeremiah enjoy meeting up in the mornings to goof around in their pajamas. The plan was to keep things casual, but Jeremiah has a bit of a clingy habit, which is kind of a mood killer when she's trying to get acquainted with another guy. Casual means you're not allowed to get jealous, she tries to tell him, but maybe that's something they'll have to practice.

Meanwhile, poor Piper has developed a bit of a video game addiction. It's all she ever wants to do and some days she doesn't even change out of her pajamas. Somehow she manages to get by in her literature classes. Must be that natural talent she has for it, because you never see her nose in a book lately. It's only fitting that she chooses her secondary aspiration as pleasure.

Charlotte still has no job and no boyfriend, but she enters a cook-off for her junior year culinary arts class. She submits her crepes suzette, and they win her $500! Way to go Charlotte! And she learned how to serve cheese platters. She's excited that her brother Luke starts college next year.Allegra wants to buy a florists bench. Could it be because Nathan's mother owns a flower shop and she wants to impress her? Working for your someday mother-in-law though? It might sound nice in theory, but I don't think Allegra knows quite what she's getting into.

By the end of the semester, it looks like Amelia and Alon are something like back together again, as he is almost constantly over at their dorm and one or both of them in their underwear. "Oh, Hi Allegra, I hope you don't mind if we make out in the kitchen."

Academically, it was a great semester for all! Well, except for Lara. But that is to be expected.

  1. I like your college - does the Lake City University exist inside Lake City hood or is it attached as a uni hood? I couldn't quite tell...

  2. simstate, yes, the LCU campus is in Lake City - you can see it in the neighborhood overview. I'm also still working on a map of Lake City... that's been coming soon for a little while now ;)

  3. I should be checking these maps out too, but I can't wait to read more...
I really enjoyed this chapter. I'm impressed by the mods you took on board to make it harder for them to earn money. It's like you pointed out before a lot more realistic.
I really like Charlotte and think that outfit absolutely fits her - yay, I got a first favourite! :)

  4. Moondaisy, yay, I'm glad you like Charlotte! She's always been one of my favorites as well. She has a good story ahead of her :)

  5. I admit, I do get bored playing Uni because they never have time off to go anywhere and even if they do their friends can't go with them because they have classes. It's fun to start them out and I probably have too many Sims in one dorm so it keeps me hopping to make sure everything gets done. But oh, I get so sick of the llamas and cheerleaders! lol

  6. Lorelei, ha, we have hacks for all of that! ;)

  7. Hmmm, you do? I use lots of cheats, but don't think I've used a hack yet, don't know if I really know the difference (duh) It would really be nice to have them be able to party together more. I've only had one "crop" of Univ kids, they were in 2 dorms and by the time they were juniors I stuck them in campus apartments and rental houses. Thought they could party more, but the class times still interfered. I have a new set of kids waiting in the bin at Uni so I need to learn what I can do to make their time "better". :)
