the college crowd

gameplay note: I'm going to briefly introduce you to my college characters here. Since the college kids get played 4 semesters for each two-year round, they end up getting much more play time, so you'll be seeing plenty of them.

My downtown college, Lake City University, is an absolute work in progress. It is inspired by other base hood universities like Jade's The Academy on The Isle of Thyme. There was once a discussion about this at MATY, but I cannot find that now for the life of me. I'm really still working out the kinks as I go. For now it seems to be working. I'll show pictures of the different buildings at some point, but for now, let's meet the students :)

LCU Main Hall Dormitory: overpriced, busy, and includes all the necessary amenities. Popular among entering freshman, but could that be because it's just across the street from the pub?

Alon Hutchins - freshman, undecided major, and earning his degree through The Military's four-year work/tuition program. Alon used to date Amelia Bradshaw before he hooked up with her cousin Bella at their senior prom. He says he was really really sorry about that, but Amelia's just not buying it. Come on, Alon, her cousin? That's just wrong!

Piper Wilson - freshman, undecided major. She works in the library and likes to read. She is quiet and has a little crush on Alon. They have a kind of casual late-night-run-in kind of relationship, but Alon has no idea how much she really likes him.

Charlotte Centowski (left) - sophomore, undecided major. She is thinking about a possible career in social work. She used to date Adam Thompson in high school, and they were even engaged for a short time. He broke up with her and she likes to say she's over that now, but we really don't believe her. She is currently single. She has been best friends with Marisa Wilson since the 5th grade. Marisa Wilson (right, no relation to Piper) - sophomore, drama major. She loves music and is quite a good singer, even when singing drunken karaoke. She loves to drag Charlotte out to the clubs to dance off a hard day of classes. Her boyfriend, Roland Ellis, lives in town.

Academy Hall: LCU's most expensive and studious dormitory.

Amelia Bradshaw - freshman, undecided major. Amelia was devastated when her high school sweetheart, Alon, made a pass at her cousin Bella at their senior prom! Talk about shattered! He wants her back now, but she's just not having it... yet. He's got some groveling to do, and while he does, she is just having a good time, and taking this opportunity to see what else there is on the market. Eh, if it's meant to be, it will be, she says.

Student Approved Housing: a block of small and cheap rented homes.

Adam Thompson and Heather Hurt - both juniors, and math majors who met their freshman year in advanced calculus class. How romantic! Adam was engaged to Charlotte Centowski for a short time, his high school sweetheart, until Heather stole his heart with her captivating talk of absolute asymptotes, and well, that was it for him! They are newly engaged now, and when they aren't hitting the books together, they can often be found hitting the bedsheets. Ah, love...

Lara Boyd - junior, philosophy major. Lara shares a house with Adam and Heather. She's not a particularly good student and as a junior, still doesn't know what she wants to do after college. She likes to play around in the garden and is dating local classical pianist Patrick Nova. They've been dating about a year now and while there has been talk of settling down, she also knows he's busy with a concert tour right now.

Allegra Gorey - junior, art major. You all remember strange Allegra? Still shy and introspective, but she's been venturing courageously away from her usual black color palate. Her boyfriend is Nathan Lind, who graduated last year and bought a nice little family home in Lakeside Heights. She isn't friends with any of her roommates and is generally bored with college. She is looking forward to moving in with Nathan after she graduates, hopefully with a ring on her finger. Well, she's thinking he must have something in mind since the house he bought has four bedrooms!

  3. Moondaisy, don't forget the resident database there on the sidebar. It's grouped by household (there are 31 currently) and ordered alphabetically by last name.

I realize now though that you may run into spoilers if you're reading from the beginning... hmmm, I guess there's no way around that :/

  4. Whoa! Lots of families! I thought I had a ton, but you're much more ambitious. I like how you've described each dorm in "personality".
