one day, Carly gets a little spend-happy...

One day, Carly Cook gets a little spend happy. This is her shitting-a-brick face, because she just got the invoice for the reconstruction of the roof on her new boutique. "I didn't know a roof could cost $15,000," she says.

"Sure," I tell her. "That roof can. You want me to send it back?"

"Well, no," she says. "It's cute. Can we charge it?"

And so it begins...

You guys still have a story update coming this weekend, but Carly's boutique will be featured in one of the scenes, and I thought you might like a better look at it than just story shots. Carly's gone a little bit spend-happy in here, but you know, it was cute.

Here's the front view - in the Jackson family update, you can see the building from how she bought it. We ended up changing it quite a bit. It doesn't have an official name yet, but I have some ideas swimming around in my head. I knew from that update though that she'd want the yellow in there, so I gave her little hints of yellow throughout. Overall, I saw Carly wanting less vivid of colors than Aurora had in Jolie, Jolie. And as sad as I was to lose that store, I think I'll probably end up liking this one better.

(And that's a rock on the hill, that weird gray shape behind the roof. I'll have to remember to move that later, lol!)

Layout view. It's custom fashion and bridal. (Bridal on the left, streetwear on the right.) There's no makeover station at the moment, and I'm not sure if I'll be adding one. Maybe further on down the line. There's plenty of space on the second level still.

It's still very unfinished at the moment. I threw together the bridal side first, and some basic things on the other side, so that I can use it for my upcoming update.

I've been going a little "spend-happy" myself with the downloads this week. (Ha, that'd be a good name for a store. Spend Happy :)

Anyway, like hell if I can remember where all of this stuff is, but I'll list the ones I do remember as I go along; the wall murals are by Grito Sims (which looks like it's sadly ended), and the clothing rack recolors are by BlueBerry11 at MTS.

This is also where Carly will sell her custom creations (some of them are already on the shelves there) - and don't you wish that stack of clothes that the sewing machine gives you didn't look so UGLY? Anyone know of a default replacement for that?

Most of the bridal shop stuff is from Around the Sims 2, in the downtown collections. I snagged up just about all of those collections, by the way. Good stuff.

Funny enough, just like a script from some cheesy romantic comedy, those two shopping there just met, while browsing over wedding flowers and formal shoes. And they took quite a liking to each other from the start. Maybe we might imagine that she's supposed to be in her sister's wedding, and she's never worn high heels in her life. And he's best man in his brother's wedding and all perplexed because they sent him to pick up last-minute emergency wedding flowers, and he's never picked out a flower in his life.

So they help each other decide on emergency wedding flowers and high heels, and afterwards, they sit outside on the benches as the sun sets over the city skyline. And before she hops on the bus to go home, he asks for her phone number.

No really, they really did all that, lol!

Ah, townie romance. Maybe I'll stick them in a house somewhere so they can date and fall in love and get married and make strange-looking townie babies! :)

Anyway...

Here's the lobby view of the boutique. The handbags are for sale, as well as the little bridal shop things like flowers and shoes.

Dude shopping there also looks like he has no business being in a fashion and bridal shop, lol! Though he could use a little fashion advice. And maybe she should open up that makeover station after all ;)

There is still loft space on both sides of the store. One side I'd like to put her sewing machine, so she can work (and people can watch her work) while the shop goes on down below. She'll do custom orders for clothing and bridal gowns, and she already has her first custom gown order with Piper's wedding coming up in the summer :)

The other side of loft space would be where I put the makeover station, if she ends up doing that. There are also stock rooms, and an employee lounge and bathroom upstairs.

And we gave Hazel back her job too.

So that's that then. I thought I'd give you a better peek at it, since the story shots will be story-ish and probably won't show it very well. It's all very unfinished at the moment, but if it turns out well, I might share it when I'm done ;)
