"Sure," I tell her. "That roof can. You want me to send it back?"
"Well, no," she says. "It's cute. Can we charge it?"
And so it begins...
You guys still have a story update coming this weekend, but Carly's boutique will be featured in one of the scenes, and I thought you might like a better look at it than just story shots. Carly's gone a little bit spend-happy in here, but you know, it was cute.

(And that's a rock on the hill, that weird gray shape behind the roof. I'll have to remember to move that later, lol!)

It's still very unfinished at the moment. I threw together the bridal side first, and some basic things on the other side, so that I can use it for my upcoming update.

Anyway, like hell if I can remember where all of this stuff is, but I'll list the ones I do remember as I go along; the wall murals are by Grito Sims (which looks like it's sadly ended), and the clothing rack recolors are by BlueBerry11 at MTS.
This is also where Carly will sell her custom creations (some of them are already on the shelves there) - and don't you wish that stack of clothes that the sewing machine gives you didn't look so UGLY? Anyone know of a default replacement for that?

Funny enough, just like a script from some cheesy romantic comedy, those two shopping there just met, while browsing over wedding flowers and formal shoes. And they took quite a liking to each other from the start. Maybe we might imagine that she's supposed to be in her sister's wedding, and she's never worn high heels in her life. And he's best man in his brother's wedding and all perplexed because they sent him to pick up last-minute emergency wedding flowers, and he's never picked out a flower in his life.
So they help each other decide on emergency wedding flowers and high heels, and afterwards, they sit outside on the benches as the sun sets over the city skyline. And before she hops on the bus to go home, he asks for her phone number.
No really, they really did all that, lol!
Ah, townie romance. Maybe I'll stick them in a house somewhere so they can date and fall in love and get married and make strange-looking townie babies! :)
Anyway...

Dude shopping there also looks like he has no business being in a fashion and bridal shop, lol! Though he could use a little fashion advice. And maybe she should open up that makeover station after all ;)

The other side of loft space would be where I put the makeover station, if she ends up doing that. There are also stock rooms, and an employee lounge and bathroom upstairs.

So that's that then. I thought I'd give you a better peek at it, since the story shots will be story-ish and probably won't show it very well. It's all very unfinished at the moment, but if it turns out well, I might share it when I'm done ;)
Wow! Looks great! I am jealous of all of you guys' amazing building skills, I'm not that good!
ReplyDeleteI keep telling myself to get the bridal set from Around the Sims 2, but I always blow it off for later... perhaps I'll actually do it today :P
Also, I see that you like to write, and I'm pretty sure you enjoy playing the sims, so I thought I'd give you this link to a website I found on Live Journal. It's a community, and everybody writes stories using the sims 2, based on a prompt system. It's kind of a challenge, and I don't know if you'd enjoy that thing, but I'll give you the link just in case you do! Everybody there is really nice and welcoming, and they're all fantastic writers (excluding me) , so if you feel like it, check it out!

I really like the store. I want one of my sims to one a butique, but she's still in high school so I'll have to wait.
ReplyDeleteHa, those roof pieces are a killer! But everything looks awesome, so perhaps it was worth Carly spending a little more than she should have! I love the second to last shot - it's so sleek and modern. And yay for Hazel, getting her job back. :)
ReplyDeleteAnd thank you for the links to the clothing rack recolours. If anything was desperately needing recolours, it's definitely that! I'll keep my eye out for replacements for that dull lump of clothes they make with the sewing machine too! They are the main reason Naomi doesn't sell custom clothes at her boutique!
I noticed that you mentioned the townies having strange-looking townie babies, and I've been wondering for a while: how do you get all your sims to look normal? Because once I get to the third, and sometimes even second generation, my sims are pretty ugly, whereas you not only have no horribly disfigured sims, but also some fairly good-looking sims. How do you do it?
ReplyDeleteThe lot looks great! I really like the floor tiles like that, very realistic. Makes me think of Dillards, haha. I know there is a default replacement for the stack of clothes at GOS, it's masculine if I recall correctly. It's on my list to recolor at some point, cause I hate it so much for the exact same reason (bridal boutique). It's like, could they be any more ugly and homeless looking? I think not. Yay for Hazel getting her job back, I'm sure she's excited to keep a cash flow going.
ReplyDeleteLol at the first picture... looks like it might be a while before the shop makes a profit! :) It looks great, though - even unfinished! I like the way it has the two separate sides.
ReplyDeleteAnd, lol at the townie romance... ever since I got ACR, my townies can't keep their hands off each other! I've learned to be very careful about where I put the hot tubs on community lots :)
The documents for the hospital hack said something about scanning the hood for pregnant townies... I've often wondered if that could happen. I guess the pregnancy would be frozen until they became selectable/playable, but imagine making some townie playable because she's in a relationship with your sim, and finding she's already pregnant to some random other townie... interesting story, anyway!
I love Carly's boutique! It looks really good with that $15,000 roof, I guess Carly will just have to be in debt for a while. ;)
ReplyDeleteThanks for the link to the clothing rack recolors! When Emma and Seth were out shopping in their last update, I was just thinking how horrible the original clothing racks are.
Tessa, thank you! I have seen Simfic50 before, and it is tempting! But I swear I don't have a single minute to write anything more than I already am writing, lol! Though I do have maybe like two updates left in this round that I don't have plans for yet, so maybe I could do a prompt for one of those ;)
ReplyDeleteRiverdale, thanks! I know how that goes, lol!
Carla, yes, the clothing rack recolors were much needed! I only wish they worked on other clothing racks too though.
Katherine, lol! It's called the plastic surgery option on the SimBlender ;) No really, I don't do much to them, and I very rarely (like only once or twice ever) change the shape of their inherited features, but I do sometimes have to move the features around their face to a more natural spot. Basically, I don't trust the game engine worth a damn to splice together the two parents into a reasonable looking child, so if I have to intervene, then I'll do so.
I don't need them all to be pretty, but I do like them all to at least look human.
The other part though is that I use a replacement face template set for my townies and to start new CAS Sims. They're less extreme than the original Maxis ones, so they breed well I guess.
Maisie, OMG yes, ugly and homeless-looking, lol! It really is awful, isn't it?
Blackcat, let's just hope she can get some of those business grants to pay back her loan, lol!
Oh wow, what a story that would be! As long as you have them selectable, they could become pregnant, so it's possible. I'm quite sure I've had a townie get pregnant before while selected, but I had my chimes at the time, and knew about it. That totally makes me wonder if I have any other pregnant townies running around my hood! I kind of hope there are, lol!
Shana, it really is a great roof, lol! We thought long and hard about whether we should send it back or not, and in the end I think we decided that we'd just make Joe work a couple extra DJ shifts to make up for it ;)
okay, this whole boutique makes me miss Bonnie's shop! And OFB and TS2! This is so cute!
ReplyDeleteLunar, thanks! But I thought you could buy community lots in TS3 now? Am I making that up? lol!
