note: eek! these semesters get kind of long with nine students to follow, lol :) their backstories, if you need a refresher.
(the first picture is the LCU Main Residence Hall, where Marisa, Charlotte, Alon, and Piper live.)
Marisa is thinking about dropping out of school. She loves her job teaching a SimJazzer class, and enjoys DJing on the weekends, so she doesn't really see the point of taking formal music classes right now, even though they come naturally and she gets straight A's. Charlotte convinces her to at least see the semester through.
Charlotte is running low on funds and needs to find a job, and a boyfriend. Though she has been running into plenty of highly attractive married men lately, but that's just not going to work. She goes out with Marisa sometimes, but more often than not, Charlotte ends up being a third wheel once Marisa's boyfriend Roland shows up.
All the men Charlotte meets are lame, lame, lame. She misses Adam sometimes when she's lonely. Maybe that's because she never burned those old prom pictures. She tries not to think about it. She knows he's happy now.* * *
Alon is feeling a little under the weather one night, just a little cold he caught from running his military drills in the cold rain probably, hanging around studying for his mechanics class, and thinking about Amelia. Then the phone rang, and guess who it is? It must be fate, he's thinking. They talk for about an hour, which makes him so happy since he didn't think she'd ever talk to him again. Don't get ahead of yourself, Alon, but talking could be a good sign. She mentions something about a party, and how she'd like to catch up with him again sometime.* * *
Academy Hall is the most prestigious residence on campus and where Amelia lives. In the second semester of her freshman year, Amelia declares a major in drama, but believe it or not, it's not because she's experienced a lot of drama lately.
Amelia throws a party at her dorm and she invites Alon. She also invites Charlotte, who has been taking some cooking classes and is very proud of her new party tray serving skills. Amelia and Alon spend the whole evening together, catching up over a game of football.
But come on, Amelia, you know he didn't come over to play football. He finally gets his sweet talk on, and she's listening. They always did have such great chemistry... and a girl has needs you know. Charlotte, however, is not so lucky. She runs into James, another student she knows from one of her classes. He seems to like her, but man, Charlotte, with an attitude like that, it's no wonder you don't have a boyfriend!* * *
Allegra spends her time with classwork, and her boyfriend, Nathan, when he can make the trip out to visit her. She doesn't have many friends on campus these days, as most of them have already graduated, but she has been talking to Amelia lately, who she met in an art class. She had a blast at Amelia's party the other night, and since she hasn't even taken the initiative to know her current roommates, she thinks it might be worth it to dish out some big cash and spend her senior year at Academy Hall next year, to make things a little more interesting.
Even though Charlotte had been awful to him at that party, James still stops by the dorm to see if she is home. She is home, of course, and decides not to blow him off. They play a game of darts, and I think she may finally be softening up a bit.* * *
(note: to the left is a picture of the student housing where Lara, Adam, and Heather live - there are four identical houses, and Allegra lives in a different one)Lara feels a little lackadaisical this semester, which is not something new for Lara, and it almost costs her passing the semester this time. Just as finals draw near, she has a sudden urge to buy an easel and work on her creativity. Maybe it's inspiration from the drafting class she's taking. Or maybe she feels she's so close to graduating, it would be a waste to drop out now. She only just scrapes through this time.
(gameplay note: my sims aren't allowed to gain skill points, do homework, or write term papers unless they have a want to do so, or have a want to make Dean's List, or something like that. If they fail due to lack of skill points, I consider it their way of letting me know they're not interested in college. Because not everybody graduates...)
But if her boyfriend were a school subject, she would be making straight A's! Patrick is a regular around their house even though he graduated last year. He's talking about love, and she's thinking about bigger things. She wonders if they'll ever be on the same page.Heather and Adam are as happy as ever. Their very healthy, fulfilling, and non-dramatic relationship leaves them a productive atmosphere to achieve academic excellence.

The night before finals, Amelia meets her parents in town at The Blackstone Grille for dinner, and they toast to her wrapping up an excellent first year in college. They're so proud, and glad all that tuition money isn't going to waste. After dinner, Amelia calls up Charlotte, and Charlotte invites her to come out to Crypt O' Night where Marisa is working. Her term paper is finished and she fully expects to ace her final exam, so she deserves to have a little fun.
And she does have fun! Marisa is on fire, Piper and their sleazy friend Cameron are there, and they take turns dancing with him. Charlotte even meets someone and has a little fun. Charlotte never did find a job, and she's still working on getting a boyfriend, but the semester wasn't a total wash. You can't be that unhappy when you're celebrating a semester of hard work with a night out with your friends.Report Cards for 2075, spring

Oh, my! Only work if they wish for it? I seem to remember that the wish to go to uni was quite common for Sims, but the wish to actually work is quite different... :)
ReplyDeleteMoondaisy, it actually makes it pretty true to life - a lot of kids go to college, but not so many end up finishing. It adds a lot of realism to the game :)
ReplyDeleteIt is a such a totally realistic feel to it.
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed this 'episode'. :)
Oh wow! I couldn't ever enforce a rule like that....that's pretty amazing!
ReplyDeleteRachel, it was hard to stick to at first, but I don't mind letting them fail now, lol!
ReplyDeleteI'll tell you, I got so bored with U by the end of their sophomore year I'm WISHING they'd fail lol! However, I'm actually like raquelaroden I couldn't enforce the rule. I'm too protective to let it happen and to controlling to let the game dictate. I know. But that's the truth.
ReplyDeleteHow you make them do schoolwork, or don't was exactly the argument I used to have in The Sims 2 Legacy and Prosperity Challenge groups I belonged to back in the day. Most of them were racking up points for all of their Sims getting 4 GPA's, and being Big Sim On Campus. I kept arguing my Romance Sims could care less about being on The Dean's List, and many of my Knowledge Sims, who were inherently shy, were not interested in making 15 and more friends on Campus. Unless they "wanted" to do the work, it eventually made more sense to me to not force them to do it. Eventually, I also did that with them going to Uni in the first place; they had to want it, or else they were going to age into adults after high school. Though, I admit, being a mother myself, it wasn't always easy to implement because I always wanted ALL of my kids and Sim kids to be perfect. LoL It was more realistic when I released some of that control. :-)
ReplyDeleteOh, absolutely! It's the biggest bore for me to have all my sims behave and achieve the exact same thing. If you're not scoring for challenge points, like some of us who treat our sims more like human-ish characters, there are lots of notable things to achieve in college besides perfect grades -- connections, opportunity, experience, memories, meeting the person they'll marry. Or even some of mine who dropped out but discovered what they really wanted to do with their lives in the process. Maybe it's easier to let your sims spread their wings a little if you consider what else they're gaining instead.
